What Is an Open Frame Monitor?

An open frame monitor is an industrial display module without a front bezel or rear housing — it consists of the LCD panel, controller board, and a mounting frame, designed to be integrated into a customer's own enclosure or panel cutout. Open frame monitors are used in custom HMI panels, kiosks, vending machines, medical devices, and specialised machine operator stations.

Integration Considerations

Open frame monitors require a panel cutout sized to the display's active area plus a sealing gasket for IP65 compliance. Typical mounting is front-panel insert with 4-point or perimeter screw mounting to the enclosure backplate. The rear of the enclosure should allow adequate airflow for the monitor's internal cooling requirements.
